Competing in the men's 65kg category, Aditya - the reigning National Champion who recently clinched gold at the 9th Elite Men's National Boxing Championship in January 2026 - secured a convincing 5-0 unanimous decision victory over Saudi Arabia's Mousa Alhawsaw. The Indian boxer maintained control throughout the bout, dictating the pace and showcasing sharp technical precision across all rounds.
With this win, Aditya advances to the next round, where he is set to face Uzbekistan's Abdulloh Madaminov in what promises to be a closely
contested encounter as the competition moves into its decisive stages.
India's campaign in the tournament has gathered steady momentum over the opening days, with multiple boxers delivering strong performances across categories.
Earlier in the competition, Preeti Pawar made an impressive start in the women's 54kg category, securing a dominant 5-0 unanimous victory over Kazakhstan's Elina Bazarova, a former Asian U22 champion. In the men's 70kg division, Deepak also delivered a confident performance, edging past Uzbekistan's Khavasbek Asadullaev with a narrow 3-2 split decision after a closely fought contest.
Day 2 saw further success for the Indian contingent as Priya registered a clinical 5-0 unanimous decision win in the women's 60kg category against Kazakhstan's Rimma Volossenko. Meanwhile, Jadumani Singh pushed Japan's Rui Yamaguchi to the limit in the men's 55kg category before narrowly losing 2-3 in a hard-fought split decision.
India's strong run continued on Day 3 as Vishvanath Suresh dominated his men's 50kg bout against Kyrgyzstan's Bekzat Ergeshov, securing a comprehensive 5-0 unanimous decision victory. Sachin also impressed in the men's 60kg category, maintaining composure under pressure to earn a 4-1 split decision win over Mongolia's Buyandalai Bayarkhuu.
With Aditya now advancing and several Indian boxers progressing through the rounds, the Asian Boxing Championships 2026 continues to highlight India's growing depth and consistency on the continental stage.
