Rajasthan Royals pulled off a stunning run chase to defeat Royal Challengers Bengaluru by chasing down 202 in just 18 overs, sealing a dominant victory at ACA Stadium in Guwahati on Friday (April 10) in IPL 2026. Royals made it memorable for the crowd in Assam as they remained unbeated in all three games they've played here.
The win, powered by a sensational top-order assault led by , ensured RR maintained their strong start to the season while handing RCB a setback while defending a 200-plus total. With this win, the Riyan Parag-led side handed Rajat Patidar & his band their first loss of the season, and jumped to the top of team standings.
RCB, after posting 202, looked well on course to register a crucial win. However, Rajasthan's approach
to the chase was anything but cautious. From the very first over, Sooryavanshi set the tone, taking apart the bowling attack with fearless strokeplay. The 15-year-old raced to a blistering 78 off just 26 balls, including eight fours and four sixes, effectively taking the game away inside the powerplay.
Even after the early dismissal of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rajasthan never lost momentum. Sooryavanshi stitched together a rapid 100-run partnership off just 34 balls with Dhruv Jurel, ensuring the required rate was always under control. By the time Sooryavanshi fell-caught by Virat Kohli off Krunal Pandya-Rajasthan were already cruising at 129/2 in 8.1 overs, leaving RCB with little room for a comeback.
The chase was completed in exactly 18 overs, making it one of the quickest successful 200-plus chases in IPL history. It also marked Rajasthan Royals' fifth successful chase of a 200-plus target in the league, underlining their growing reputation as one of the most dangerous chasing sides.
For RCB, the defeat added to an unwanted record. They now have seven losses while defending 200-plus totals in IPL history-the joint-most by any team. Despite setting what appeared to be a strong total, their inability to control the powerplay proved decisive.
Speaking after the match, RR captain Riyan Parag admitted that his side could have executed better with the ball but praised the overall clinical performance. He noted that Rajasthan might have allowed RCB to score 20 runs extra and highlighted areas for improvement, particularly in restricting scoring options on a surface that offered assistance to bowlers.
The victory also continued Rajasthan's impressive run at the start of IPL 2026, marking the third time they have begun a season with four or more consecutive wins. With their batting firing on all cylinders and a clear understanding of conditions, RR are fast emerging as one of the teams to beat this season.
