Penkridge fast bowler Myles Davis achieved a double hat-trick of six wickets in six consecutive balls during a Premier Division clash in the South Staffordshire County League on Saturday, April 26, 2026 - an astonishing feat described by his club as only the seventh of its kind in the world.
Playing at home against Pelsall, Penkridge won the toss and posted 168 all out, with Amaan Hassan top-scoring on 86. Pelsall, missing former England spinner Monty Panesar who was celebrating his 44th birthday, reached 49-2 after eight overs (Davis had already claimed one wicket in his third over). What followed in Davis's next two overs was pure mayhem.
The 22-year-old electrician, a Penkridge homegrown junior who made his first-team debut at 15, started his fifth
over with a wide. He then produced the final two deliveries of that over to clean-bowl two batters. Club-mates scrambled for their phones to film what they hoped would be a hat-trick ball at the start of his sixth over.
It duly arrived - a catch down the leg side to the wicketkeeper. Phones briefly went away, only to come out again moments later when the next batter was bowled. Davis knocked out the middle stump of the following batsman and sealed his sixth wicket in six balls by removing the off stump of another, leaving Pelsall reeling at 49-9. They were eventually bowled out for 52, handing Penkridge a crushing 116-run victory. Davis finished with sensational figures of 7-16 from just six overs.
Davis, who had taken two hat-tricks the previous season, was still processing the moment when speaking to the media.
"It's still a bit surreal, but it's an amazing achievement. I didn't know what to think, to be honest. When the fourth [wicket] happened I was just amazed and it just carried on. I couldn't believe it," he said.
In a more extended interview with the Express & Star, the right-arm quick added, "I think my head's still on cloud 40 to be honest! It has been absolutely mad. I woke up this morning, Stuart Broad had commented on the post. I couldn't believe it, I shot out of bed. Ran down to my mum and dad and was like 'look at this!' It's unbelievable. "
