Lucknow Super Giants have suffered elimination from the playoff race after their defeat against Chennai Super Kings on Sunday (May 10).
The MA Chidambaram Stadium witnessed a fantastic performance from CSK as the Super Giants succumbed to their 8th defeat of the season in 11 matches.
Chennai won the match by 5 wickets and solidified their position in the playoff race, while LSG are now out of the IPL 2026 playoff race.

Lucknow Super Giants posted a competitive 203/8 after CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and elected to bowl. Josh Inglis hammered a blistering 85 off 33 balls (10x4, 6x6), powering LSG to 91/1 in the powerplay. However, Jamie Overton turned the game with a superb spell of 3/36, dismissing Inglis, Rishabh Pant, and Akshat Raghuwanshi
in quick succession. Shahbaz Ahmed's unbeaten 43 off 25 provided a late boost.
Chasing 204, CSK got off to a flying start. Sanju Samson smashed 28 off 14, but Digvesh Rathi struck early. Urvil Patel then unleashed a carnage-filled 65 off 23 balls (8x6), nearly sealing the game. Ruturaj Gaikwad contributed a steady 42 off 28. LSG fought back with Shahbaz Ahmed's 2/30 and late strikes from Digvesh Rathi and Avesh Khan, reducing CSK to 169/5.
Shivam Dube (15 off 7, including two sixes off Markram) and Prashant Veer (17 off 12) kept their composure to finish the chase in 19.2 overs.
