Hindustan Zinc Limited, a leading zinc producer globally, concluded its participation at the 44th India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2025 with notable success. The company's engaging display in the Mining Pavilion highlighted its "Zung Ke Khilaaf Zinc" campaign. This initiative aimed to educate the public on the significance of galvanization in safeguarding vehicles, infrastructure, and everyday items from corrosion.
The campaign attracted over 1 lakh visitors, showcasing Hindustan Zinc's commitment to raising awareness about rust prevention. A vintage Priya scooter was used as a visual centrepiece to evoke nostalgia and demonstrate galvanization's effectiveness in combating rust. This setup effectively illustrated how galvanization ensures
durability and reliable performance over time.
Visitors were drawn to an interactive installation that featured a vintage scooter split into two halves: one galvanized and the other not. This striking comparison helped illustrate how zinc galvanization protects surfaces from rust and corrosion. It served as a relatable tool for explaining how corrosion impacts both everyday objects and large-scale infrastructure.
To further engage the public, Hindustan Zinc conducted on-ground conversations where visitors participated in a quiz about corrosion and galvanization. Over 2,000 participants completed this quiz, providing valuable insights into public understanding of zinc's role in protecting steel. The company's stall recorded significant interest, underscoring the campaign's impact.
Ms. Farida Naik, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Mines, praised the campaign by stating, "'Zung Ke Khilaaf Zinc' is exactly what public outreach should look like. " She commended its clarity and ability to connect with citizens by turning a technical concept into an impactful lesson.
In addition to the galvanization awareness drive, Hindustan Zinc's broader showcase included an RFID-enabled interactive installation on critical minerals' role in India's Critical Mineral Mission. Visitors also experienced an AR/VR mine tour of Rampura Agucha Mine and Chanderiya Lead Zinc Smelter.
Commitment to Sustainability and Innovation
The company displayed products like Special High Grade Zinc, 99.997% Pure Silver, EcoZen - Asia's first low-carbon green zinc - and an AI-based photo souvenir. These exhibits reflected Hindustan Zinc's dedication to community empowerment through its social impact programmes Sakhi and Upaya.
Hindustan Zinc remains committed to advancing India's Critical Mineral Mission by promoting awareness on rust prevention and advocating for sustainable infrastructure solutions. The company's efforts contribute towards building a Viksit Bharat with long-lasting infrastructure solutions.
