Redemption and championship validation collide on Valentine's Day as ONE Strawweight Kickboxing World Champion Jackie Buntan prepares to settle the score with Stella Hemetsberger. She has vowed to dominate from round one when she defends her crown in the main event of ONE Fight Night 40 on 14 February.
The Filipina-American brings a 7-2 ONE record into this blockbuster rematch. Buntan defeated legendary striker Anissa Meksen in November 2024 to become the inaugural ONE Women's Strawweight Kickboxing World Champion.
In September 2025, Buntan and Hemetsberger clashed for the vacant ONE Women's Strawweight Muay Thai World Championship. Hemetsberger won via unanimous decision to become Austria's first-ever ONE World Champion, handing Buntan one of
just two promotional losses.
For Buntan, this title defense carries deeper significance than simply retaining her belt. The champion understands that defending 26-pound gold separates good fighters from great ones who prove their dominance repeatedly.
"Coming into the fight as the reigning Kickboxing World Champion, it's one thing to win a World Championship, but it means a lot more to be able to defend it and stay on top," Buntan said.
Despite losing their first encounter, Buntan takes pride in her resilience during that bout. The Filipina-American got knocked down twice in the opening round but refused to quit, battling back strongly in rounds two through five.
"That specific loss, especially how it happened - getting knocked down twice in the first round but staying in it and picking it up in rounds two through five - I think that's the
definition of me as a fighter, as an athlete. There's no quit in me," Buntan said.
For the Valentine's Day rematch, Buntan enters with a clear game plan. She plans to establish dominance from round one, making Hemetsberger question every aspect of her strategy while controlling the fight's pace and location.
"I do see myself breaking her down from round one, having her question her ability, her game plan, her strategy, and just controlling it from there. I know how to beat her. Winning this fight means everything for my legacy," Buntan said.
