West Ham strengthened Premier League survival hopes with a 2-0 victory over Burnley at Turf Moor, as Crysencio Summerville scored for a fifth straight game and Taty Castellanos added a second, moving the visitors to within three points of 17th-place Nottingham Forest and sealing a third win in four league fixtures.
Summerville’s current run placed the winger alongside Jesse Lingard, with Summerville becoming the first West Ham player since 2021 to score in five consecutive games in all competitions, while Burnley’s defeat extended a worrying sequence of 16 Premier League matches without a win, featuring five draws and 11 losses since the start of November.
Burnley’s long drought left the club as one of only two sides across England’s top four
divisions without a league victory in that period, alongside Sheffield Wednesday, while West Ham finally recorded a first Premier League clean sheet since a 3-0 success away to Forest in August, which had been Nuno’s final match in charge of the Reds.
| Team | Result | Key streak |
|---|---|---|
| West Ham | 2-0 win vs Burnley | 3 wins in last 4 league games |
| Burnley | 2-0 loss vs West Ham | Winless in 16 Premier League games (D5 L11) |
| Crysencio Summerville | Scored opening goal | 5 successive games scored in all competitions |
| Taty Castellanos | Scored second goal | 180th different West Ham Premier League scorer |
West Ham controlled the early stages and broke through on 13 minutes, when a swift counter saw Summerville sprint onto Mateus Fernandes’ precise through ball before calmly lifting a composed finish over Martin Dubravka, giving the visitors a lead that reflected their sharpness and Burnley’s fragile confidence in both penalty areas.
The advantage increased another 13 minutes later, as Summerville produced a clever flick inside the left channel to release El Hadji Malick Diouf, whose measured cross from the flank was met by Castellanos, with the forward rising well to guide a firm header past Dubravka and open a Premier League account for West Ham.
Burnley responded with pressure and finished with 18 attempts, as Marcus Edwards bent a long-range effort just wide, Aaron Wan-Bissaka blocked Edwards from close in, Mads Hermansen saved a powerful Zian Flemming header, and Bashir Humphreys narrowly missed from distance, yet the hosts still failed to break through a disciplined West Ham defence.

Castellanos’ clinching header also carried historical weight, as the striker became the 180th different player to score for West Ham in the Premier League, a figure bettered only by Tottenham’s 181 scorers, while the result tightened an increasingly tense relegation battle and highlighted Burnley’s deepening struggle to escape the bottom places.
