The ICC T20 World Cup 2026 will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, running from February 7 to March 8, 2026. The tournament will commence with India defending their title by playing a marquee night match
against the United States at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium on February 7.
Other prominent matches on the opening day include former champions Pakistan playing at the Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) in Colombo and the West Indies featuring at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
The final is scheduled to be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, which is the largest cricket venue globally. The tournament will span eight venues across India and Sri Lanka: Narendra Modi Stadium (Ahmedabad), MA Chidambaram Stadium (Chennai), Arun Jaitley Stadium (New Delhi), Wankhede Stadium (Mumbai), Eden Gardens (Kolkata), R. Premadasa Stadium (Colombo), Sinhalese Sports Club Ground (Colombo), and Pallekele International Cricket Stadium (Kandy). If Pakistan advances to the semifinals or final, certain matches including the semifinals and final may be shifted to Colombo.
The format remains the same used in 2024 with 20 teams divided into four groups of five. The top two teams from each group will progress to the Super Eights. Group A includes India, USA, Namibia, Netherlands, and Pakistan. Notably, all Group B matches with co-host Sri Lanka will be played exclusively in Sri Lankan venues, and all of Pakistan's matches will be staged in Sri Lanka. If India and Pakistan meet in the semifinals, that match will be held in Colombo, while other matches involving India will be in Mumbai.
