IPL 2026: Sunil Narine becomes First Player in IPL History to Prestigious Milestone

Kolkata Knight Riders' star spinner Sunil Narine has joined the 200-wicket club in the Indian Premier League, becoming the third bowler overall to reach the milestone.

A long-serving member of Kolkata Knight Riders, Narine is the first player to achieve the feat with a single franchise. He is also the first overseas bowler to enter the 200-wicket club.

He reached the landmark during KKR's fixture against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Sunday, May 3. Narine dismissed Salil Arora to bring up his 200th wicket while returning impressive figures of 2/31 as SRH were bowled out for 165 in 19 overs.

Since making his debut in 2012, Narine has been a cornerstone of KKR's bowling attack because of his control, economy, and

ability to deliver breakthroughs across phases. Over the years, Narine has built a decorated record with the franchise, playing a key role in KKR's title-winning campaigns in 2012, 2014, and 2024.

He was awarded the MVP (Most Valuable Player) in 2012 and 2018, and won the Purple Cap in 2012, underlining his immense impact on the team.

At 37, the West Indies mystery spinner continues to defy age with his unique variations and sharp cricket brain. His loyalty to KKR and consistent excellence make him one of the most respected overseas players in IPL history.

Most Wickets in IPL

Sunil Narine is currently ranked 3rd among the all-time highest wicket-takers in the Indian Premier League. Yuzvendra Chahal has most wickets as the Punjab Kings spinner has 228 wickets to his name, while RCB's Bhuvneshwar Kumar is placed 2nd with 215 scalps in his name. Narine, with two wickets in the match against SRH, currently has 201 wickets.
