Luciano Spalletti stated that Juventus will not move for Mauro Icardi, even as the club continue to hunt for a new striker before the January transfer deadline. The stance comes after Juventus beat Parma
4-1 away, a result that underlined strong recent form in Serie A.
The match at Stadio Ennio Tardini saw Bremer score twice, with Weston McKennie and Jonathan David adding further goals. Victory lifted Juventus into the Serie A top four, yet Spalletti warned against complacency and stressed that performance levels, not league position, must guide the dressing room in the coming weeks.
Spalletti has been open about wanting another forward this month, with Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta mentioned as a possible option for Juventus. Mauro Icardi, currently at Galatasaray, had been linked because of past success with Spalletti at Inter, but the coach was clear that such a reunion will not happen.
Icardi scored 46 goals in 73 matches under Spalletti at Inter between 2017 and 2019, a record that inevitably fuels transfer talk. However, Spalletti underlined that Juventus are targeting a different profile. The coach said the club will continue with the current squad if the right type of striker is not available.
Explaining the situation, Spalletti said: "I get asked about Icardi and [Victor] Osimhen in a press conference, so I can only speak highly of Icardi as a player when he was in my team," explained Spalletti. "There were other situations that he took into the locker room that were about his home life and didnt belong in the locker room, so I had to talk to him.
While the forward search continues, Juventus completed two late squad moves. Jeremie Boga arrived on loan from Nice, adding another wide attacking option. Emil Holm joined from Bologna in a deal involving Joao Mario moving the other way, giving Spalletti further depth in defensive areas for the second half of the campaign.
Juventus have now won four of their last five Serie A away fixtures, losing only once in that run. Across the previous 18 league trips, they had collected just five wins, with seven draws and six defeats. Even so, Spalletti downplayed the numbers when discussing the Parma result and recent away sequence.
Spalletti said: "It is better not to look at statistics, as often those come from static situations that do not influence the result. Football is more about sudden changes of pace, duels and second balls, that is where you get into the real game. Whoever is more wide awake there can win the match. "

The win was not without concern. Spalletti confirmed that Kenan Yildiz felt pain during the first half and was withdrawn at half-time for Fabio Miretti. The issue leaves Yildiz doubtful for the Coppa Italia tie against Atalanta later this week, although initial assessments suggest the problem is not major.
Spalletti explained: "Yildiz told us during the first half he felt a bit of pain, but he could make it to half-time," explained Spalletti. "We trusted him, but he now has a bit of pain even when walking, so we have to evaluate it, but it shouldn't be too serious. I think it'll be tough to get him ready for Thursday. "
Spalletti’s comments highlight a clear approach from Juventus heading into the final days of the window. The club want a forward with very precise qualities, refuse to chase Icardi despite past success, and remain cautious about interpreting recent results, while also managing fitness concerns before facing Atalanta in the Coppa Italia.
