Victor Wembanyama will be available for a crucial Game 5 after the Game 4 ejection. The San Antonio Spurs star received a Flagrant 2 for elbowing Naz Reid in Sunday’s 114-109 defeat. Despite that ruling, Wembanyama is set to avoid both a fine and suspension.
The NBA has not yet issued an official statement on the incident. However, Shams Charania of ESPN reported on Monday that league review brought no extra penalty. Wembanyama is therefore cleared to play on Tuesday in San Antonio, with the Western Conference semi-final series level at 2-2.

Game 4 ended early for Wembanyama after a scramble for a defensive rebound in the second quarter. Wembanyama became entangled with Naz Reid and Jaden McDaniels under the basket. While swinging arms to secure the ball, Wembanyama’s elbow hit Reid above the neck area, triggering review.
Officials initially called an ordinary foul on the floor. After video review, the contact was upgraded to a Flagrant 2, which automatically brought an ejection. That decision removed Wembanyama from the contest and marked the first ejection of Wembanyama’s NBA career at play-off level.
The early dismissal limited the NBA Defensive Player of the Year and MVP finalist to just 12 minutes. Wembanyama closed Game 4 with four points, four rebounds, one assist and no blocks. The display contrasted sharply with Game 3, where Wembanyama carried San Antonio offensively and defensively.
On the previous Friday, Wembanyama scored 39 points with 14 rebounds and five blocks in a 115-108 win. That result gave second-seeded San Antonio a 2-1 advantage over the Minnesota Timberwolves. Sunday’s 114-109 loss then brought the best-of-seven series back level, setting up a pivotal fifth meeting.
| Game | Result | Score | Wembanyama points | Rebounds | Blocks |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Game 3 (Friday) | Spurs win | 115-108 | 39 | 14 | 5 |
| Game 4 (Sunday) | Spurs loss | 114-109 | 4 | 4 | 0 |
Attention now turns to Game 5 on Tuesday in San Antonio, where Wembanyama’s presence remains central. The winner will move one victory from the Western Conference semi-final series, with a chance to finish the matchup on Friday in Minnesota. With the series tied 2-2, every possession gains added importance for both teams.
