Thomas Frank expressed his satisfaction with Xavi Simons' performance after Tottenham's 3-0 victory over Slavia Prague in the Champions League. Simons netted a penalty at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium,
following an own goal by David Zima and another penalty by Mohammed Kudus. This win extends Spurs' unbeaten streak in major European home matches to 21 games since their loss to RB Leipzig in February 2020.
Spurs have maintained a perfect record in their Champions League home fixtures this season, winning all three matches. However, their Premier League home form has been less impressive, with only two wins out of eight games, accounting for a 25% success rate. Despite this, Frank's team has climbed to ninth place in the league phase, just one spot away from securing a last-16 position with two matches remaining.
Simons had previously scored his first goal for Spurs against Brentford, where he also provided an assist in their 2-0 Premier League triumph. Frank was pleased to see Simons build on his performance against Brentford as he looks to gain confidence in a Spurs shirt. "I think he built on a good game on Saturday, produced again," said Frank on Simons. "Good link-up play, nice turns in the middle of the pitch and has acceleration to go past a player. "
The Danish coach praised Simons' work ethic and highlighted a crucial recovery run made by him in the 90th minute. "I like his work ethic and there was great recovery run on 90 minutes which is crucial for us," Frank noted. He believes that while his side is performing well, there is room for improvement despite their demanding schedule.
Frank acknowledged that although he is pleased with the win and their strong position to progress, there are areas where they can improve. "Very happy with win, strong position to progress. Just happy to have four days before Forest now," Frank added. He pointed out that Slavia Prague's style poses a threat during transitions and emphasized the need to counteract this effectively.

Reflecting on recent performances, Frank mentioned that while he liked much of what he saw from his team, they could be more controlled in future games. "I liked a lot from our performance but I also think we can be much better in the future," he stated. The team's busy schedule has been challenging, having played four games within a short span of days.
As Spurs continue their campaign, maintaining momentum will be key for them to secure advancement in both domestic and European competitions.
