In a must-win IPL 2026 encounter at Eden Gardens on May 16, New Zealand explosive opener Finn Allen delivered yet another masterclass in power-hitting, smashing 93 off just 35 balls, including 10 sixes, for Kolkata Knight Riders against Gujarat Titans.
KKR came into the game with wafer-thin playoff hopes, a loss would have ended their season. Captain Ajinkya Rahane (14 off 14) fell early in the 5th over to Mohammed Siraj, but Allen refused to slow down. He lit up the powerplay and beyond, reaching his fifty off just 21 balls in the 8th over amid an 18-run over against Rashid Khan. The Kiwi star then formed a destructive stand with Angkrish Raghuvanshi that left GT's bowlers shell-shocked, taking KKR to 138/1 after 11 overs.
Allen's knock was pure
carnage: back-to-back sixes in the 4th over (one hammered over long-off, the next pulled over midwicket), a monster welcome six off Rashid Khan's first ball over long-on, followed by a short-ball pull into the square-leg stands, and repeated slogs and leg-side dumps that kept the Eden crowd roaring. He dominated pace and spin alike, punishing slot balls and short deliveries with effortless power. His dismissal came in the 12th over, a mistimed swing off R. Sai Kishore picked out Rashid Khan at cow corner.
Players with Most 10+ Sixes Innings in IPL History
With the knock, Finn Allen has joined a special list and has become only 4th player to hit 10+ sixes multiple times in the IPL.
- 4 times - Chris Gayle
- 2 times - Abhishek Sharma
- 2 times - Vaibhav Sooryavanshi
- 2 times - Finn Allen
Allen had earlier blasted an unbeaten 100 off 47 balls (5 fours, 10 sixes) in a chase of 143 against Delhi Capitals earlier this month, powering KKR to an eight-wicket win. That knock already announced him as one of the most destructive openers in the league. Tonight's 93 off 35 - his second 10-sixes special, cements his place in this rarefied club, making him only the fourth player in IPL history to achieve the feat more than once.
