The Indian women's cricket team, led by captain Harmanpreet Kaur and head coach Amol Muzumdar, met PM Narendra Modi at his residence on Wednesday (November 5) following their historic ICC Women's World Cup 2025 triumph.
The meeting at Lok Kalyan Marg was filled with smiles, laughter, and stories of determination, as the Prime Minister congratulated the team for their incredible performance in the tournament.
PM Modi praised the side for their resilience and comeback after enduring three consecutive losses early in the campaign, only to finish as world champions by defeating South Africa in the final at DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai on Sunday.
Captain Harmanpreet Kaur reflected on the journey, recalling their last meeting with the Prime Minister
in 2017. "We met him without the trophy then, and now we've come back with it. Hopefully, we'll keep meeting him with more trophies in the future," she said with a smile.
Vice-captain Smriti Mandhana shared that the Prime Minister's encouragement has always been an inspiration. "He motivated us and reminded us how girls today are excelling in every field - it's something he has always supported," she said.

The Prime Minister also mentioned Deepti's 'Jai Shri Ram' Instagram post and her Hanuman tattoo, which she said symbolizes her inner strength.
The PM fondly remembered Harleen Kaur's stunning 2021 catch against England, Amanjot Kaur's juggling grab in the final, and Harmanpreet's decision to pocket the match-winning ball, praising their spirit and composure. When Kranti Gaud mentioned her brother was a big fan, the PM warmly extended an open invitation to meet him - a fitting end to a heartwarming celebration of India's world champions.
