Bournemouth moved closer to European football as Andoni Iraola’s side beat Crystal Palace 3-0 at the Vitality Stadium. Jefferson Lerma’s early own goal and late finishes from teenagers Junior Kroupi and Rayan secured the win. The result lifted Bournemouth into the Premier League top six, one point ahead of seventh-placed Brentford, with three league matches remaining in Iraola’s time in charge.
The victory also stretched Bournemouth’s unbeaten Premier League run to 15 matches, the longest active sequence in the division. It was the club’s best streak in the top flight. The Cherries controlled long spells against Palace, keeping the visitors at distance and protecting their push for a first appearance in European competition next season.
Iraola
underlined how much qualification for Europe would mean for the squad and club staff. The head coach stressed the need for extra focus during decisive moments of the run-in. Iraola also highlighted the players’ desire to turn a strong campaign into tangible reward before the end of the Premier League season.
"Of course, we want to give the players the chance to play in Europe next season," Iraola told Sky Sports. "It would be massive. We have experience from past seasons. It's a nice season, we are doing well, but we need extra, not to give anything to the opposition. In key moments of the season, we are improving in these matters. These things can make the difference. We dominated the game. Especially in the first half, we played really well. In the second half, they made some subs, put dangerous players in, but we still controlled it. I am really pleased, the players showed they wanted to get something from this season. We are in a good spot but need more points. "
Iraola’s tactical plan worked from the opening minutes. Bournemouth pressed high, forced errors and gained control after Lerma diverted the ball into his own net. Palace struggled to escape their half for long periods. Bournemouth then managed the game after the break, limiting transitions and waiting for chances that Kroupi and Rayan finished.
A key factor in Bournemouth’s progress under Iraola this season was the rise of Junior Kroupi. The 19-year-old forward became an important part of the attack and continued that form against Palace, scoring one of the late goals that confirmed the result and underlined Bournemouth’s confidence in the final third.
Across the Premier League campaign, Kroupi reached 12 league goals. Among teenagers in the competition during the 21st century, only Romelu Lukaku, with 14 for West Brom in 2012-13, had scored more in a single season. In Europe’s top five leagues in 2025-26, only Lamine Yamal, with 16 goals, had more than Kroupi among teenage players.
Those numbers placed Kroupi in elite company and showed how quickly the forward adapted. Bournemouth relied on that output during their 15-match unbeaten Premier League run. Kroupi’s goals eased pressure in several tight games and gave Iraola more flexibility with his attacking structure and substitutions late in matches.
| Teenage player | Club | Season | League | Goals |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Romelu Lukaku | West Brom | 2012-13 | Premier League | 14 |
| Junior Kroupi | Bournemouth | 2025-26 | Premier League | 12 |
| Lamine Yamal | Barcelona | 2025-26 | Europe’s big five leagues | 16 |
Defensive control in Bournemouth Premier League display
Bournemouth’s performance without the ball was also notable. Crystal Palace did not manage a single shot in the first half. That had not happened to Palace since August 2021 against Chelsea, highlighting how effectively Bournemouth restricted space and passing lanes during the opening 45 minutes.
This campaign, Bournemouth prevented opponents from attempting a first-half shot on three occasions. That occurred against Tottenham in August, Burnley in December, and then Palace in this 3-0 win. Across the Premier League, only Arsenal had achieved the feat more often, doing so four times during the same season.

Glasner reaction to Bournemouth Premier League defeat
Crystal Palace head coach Oliver Glasner pointed to physical and mental fatigue as a major factor. Palace improved after half-time and saw more of the ball, but the damage was done. Bournemouth managed the second period, accepted fewer risks and protected Neto’s goal while Palace chased a way back.
"Today the tank was empty, we could see it," Palace boss Oliver Glasner said to Sky Sports. "Players tried, the second half was much better. It was a game on the same level. The message at half-time was the first half was not us, and it's time to show in the second half we could do better, play more in the front. We had 50% possession in the first half but no shots. Against a team that presses like Bournemouth, to play square passes around their box doesn't make sense, but that is what we did. "
The result kept Palace focused on finishing the Premier League season strongly, while Bournemouth targeted a historic European place. Iraola headed into the final three league fixtures with a squad in form, an unbeaten run of 15 games, and a clear objective to turn that consistency into European qualification.
