Rising Temperatures Ahead
The city of Kolkata is bracing for an extended period of elevated temperatures and dry conditions. On Saturday, the maximum temperature recorded was a notable 33.6°C, and the India Meteorological Department
(IMD) anticipates a further climb. Projections indicate that the mercury could reach as high as 35°C by Sunday. Without any significant weather systems influencing the region, a gradual ascent in temperatures is expected to persist for approximately a week. During this time, temperatures are likely to hover in the range of 35°C to 36°C. Concurrently, the minimum temperature registered 23.6°C in Kolkata on Saturday, contributing to the overall warm climate.
Dry Spell Predicted
Forecasting the weather for the next seven days, the Met office has indicated a largely dry and warm climate across South Bengal. The likelihood of rainfall or thunderstorms is considered low during this period. While a few localized thundershowers might occur in isolated pockets, they are expected to be mild and infrequent. This warm spell is anticipated to continue for about a week, after which a change might be observed, although there are no specific indicators available at present to confirm when this transition will occur. This follows a recent period between April 5 and 9, which saw multiple thunderstorms and rain in Kolkata, breaking the season's initial scorching spell and bringing down temperatures after a previous high of 36.1°C.
