Laddu Production Soars
In a significant operational expansion, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has amplified its daily output of the much-sought-after Tirupati laddu prasadam. This strategic increase, driven by a noticeable
rise in devotee footfall, aims to guarantee that every pilgrim can partake in this sacred offering without issue. Recent figures showcase a remarkable uptick, with production climbing from approximately 5.3 lakh laddus in late December to a staggering 8.38 lakh on a single Saturday in March. This growth isn't haphazard; it's a meticulously planned response to anticipated and actual increases in pilgrims, especially during weekends and upcoming holiday seasons like summer. Officials are diligently overseeing the process, ensuring that current production consistently hovers between seven and eight lakh laddus per day, with buffer stocks actively maintained to prevent any potential scarcity. The administration is committed to meeting the needs of an ever-growing number of visitors.
Monthly Production Peaks
Examining the monthly figures reveals the sheer scale of TTD's laddu production and distribution efforts. In February alone, the temple kitchen successfully produced an impressive 1,06,79,400 laddus, with sales slightly exceeding this at 1,07,23,400 units. The preceding month, January, witnessed even higher volumes, with production reaching 1,26,88,800 laddus and sales closely following at 1,26,77,258. These statistics underscore a consistent upward trend, and forecasts for March suggest a further escalation in both production and sales, attributed to an increase in public holidays and a general surge in pilgrim arrivals. This sustained high level of output reflects TTD's robust operational capacity and its dedication to serving the spiritual needs of devotees who travel from afar.
Quality Assurance Advances
Beyond mere quantity, TTD is also deeply committed to upholding the pristine quality of the Tirupati laddu. To this end, advanced technological solutions have been integrated into the preparation process. At the Ugranam, the temple's central kitchen store, sophisticated AI-driven sorting machines are now in operation. These state-of-the-art vision-based colour sorters, manufactured by Genn Solutions, meticulously scan and separate ingredients, effectively removing any impurities or foreign particles. Each machine boasts a processing capacity of 1.5 tonnes per hour, utilizing intelligent algorithms to ensure the utmost purity of ingredients before they enter the laddu preparation cycle. These custom-built machines, costing approximately Rs 40 lakh and funded by a generous contribution, significantly enhance efficiency and maintain stringent quality control. This technological investment guarantees that the prasadam offered to devotees consistently meets the highest standards of excellence.
