Visitor Numbers Soar
Dhari's Ambardi Safari Park is experiencing a substantial surge in popularity, with official figures revealing an impressive 18.6% increase in annual tourist footfall. Over a two-year span, commencing
January 1, 2024, the park welcomed a total of 2.07 lakh visitors. This growth pattern shows a clear upward trend, with visitor numbers escalating from 94,824 in the initial year to 1,12,545 in the subsequent year. Such a marked rise in attendance underscores the park's burgeoning appeal as a key wildlife destination within Gujarat. This expansion in visitor numbers has not only solidified its status but also positioned it as a compelling alternative for wildlife enthusiasts seeking to observe the majestic Asiatic lions, often bypassing the more established Sasan Gir circuit.
Economic Impact and Accessibility
The significant uptick in visitor numbers has translated into a robust financial performance for Ambardi Safari Park. During the aforementioned two-year period, the park successfully generated Rs 3.5 crore in revenue, a testament to its growing commercial viability and appeal. This financial success further cements its importance as a tourist attraction. Strategically located, the park serves as a convenient stop for travelers heading towards popular destinations like Diu and Tulshishyam. It offers a direct opportunity to witness Asiatic lions without the necessity of undertaking a lengthy detour to Sasan Gir. This accessibility factor plays a crucial role in its increasing popularity. On a daily average, the park consistently accommodates 284 tourists, indicating a steady stream of visitors and a well-managed operational capacity. Furthermore, to cater to the escalating demand, the Girnar Safari, another facility in the region for lion viewing, is fully operational with 10 jeeps.
International Reach and Daily Averages
While Ambardi Safari Park is experiencing a domestic tourism boom, its international footprint remains relatively modest. Over the entire 24-month period under review, only 28 foreign tourists visited the park, with just a single international visitor recorded in the year 2024. This highlights a significant disparity between domestic and international appeal. Despite this, the park maintains a consistent and healthy daily average of 284 tourists. This figure, as reported by the forest minister, indicates a stable and reliable influx of visitors on a regular basis, contributing to the park's sustained operational rhythm. The consistent daily numbers suggest a strong local and regional draw, even as global awareness continues to grow.
