Major Administrative Overhaul
In a substantial administrative maneuver, the Uttar Pradesh government initiated a large-scale transfer of 61 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers. This broad reshuffle, spanning across two days,
introduced new leadership to 25 districts by appointing fresh District Magistrates (DMs). The initial phase saw 38 officers reassigned, including 15 DMs, while a subsequent list confirmed 23 more postings, bringing the total of newly appointed DMs to 25. This comprehensive exercise represents one of the most significant officer realignments in recent months for the state, impacting various governmental departments and district administrations.
Key District Appointments
Among the notable changes, Ayodhya has welcomed Shashank Tripathi, a 2016 batch officer, as its new District Magistrate, previously serving as the DM of Barabanki. Inderjit Singh, who formerly held the position of Lucknow municipal commissioner and was the special secretary of energy, has been appointed as the new DM of Sultanpur. These appointments are particularly significant given the recent consecration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya and the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, underscoring the strategic importance of these administrative positions.
Prominent Officer Postings
Beyond the district-level changes, the transfer list also includes several high-profile postings. Arvind Malappa Bangri and Nikhil Tikaram Funde have been appointed as special secretaries to the Chief Minister, a pivotal role in state governance. Nitish Kumar will now lead Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited as its new MD, while Shruti takes charge as the MD of Dakshinanchal Power Supply Corporation. Ashutosh Niranjan has been elevated to the position of transport commissioner, succeeding Kinjal Singh, who has been transferred to the role of secretary for Secondary Education. Furthermore, Lakhimpur Kheri DM Durga Shakti Nagpal has been promoted to the prestigious position of divisional commissioner of Devipatan, signaling recognition of her administrative capabilities.
Diverse Departmental Shifts
The administrative realignment has also brought about significant shifts in various departments. Shashi Bhushan Lal Sushil is the new principal secretary for MSME, and Ravindar Singh will serve as special secretary for power, also overseeing additional power sources. Jhansi DM Mridul Chaudhary is now the special secretary for tourism, while Ashwani Kumar Pandey has been posted as director of minority welfare. Harshita Mathur is set to lead child development and nutrition as its new director, and Anita Verma Singh will take on the responsibilities of special secretary for food and logistics. Other key appointments include Prem Ranjan Singh as additional state project director for Sarv Shiksha Mission, Abhishek Pandey as additional commissioner for land administration, Sanjeev Ranjan as special secretary for agriculture, and J Reebha as special secretary for geology and mining. Ashutosh Kumar Dwivedi is appointed special secretary PWD, and Badri Narayan Singh will serve as special secretary for higher education. In regulatory and development roles, Diksha Jain is the new additional CEO of UP State Industrial Development Authority, Aparajita Singh Sinsiwar is posted as vice chairperson of Bulandshahr Khurja Development Authority, and Pranata Aishwarya has been appointed vice-chairperson of Muzaffarnagar Development Authority.
New District Leaders
The wave of appointments has introduced new leadership to numerous districts across Uttar Pradesh. Gaurang Rathi is now the DM of Jhansi, Indrajit Singh leads Sultanpur, and Kumar Harsh takes charge in Bulandshahr. Annapurna Garg has been posted to Shravasti, Alok Yadav to Shamli, and Arvind Kumar Chauhan to Saharanpur. Nitin Gaur is the new DM of Amroha, Abhishek Goyal heads Hamirpur, and Sarneet Kaur Broka is appointed to Rae Bareli. Nidhi Gupta Vats is now the DM of Fatehpur, Ghanshyam Meena leads Unnao, and Anjani Kumar Singh is posted to Lakhimpur Kheri. Indramani Tripathi will serve as DM of Mainpuri, Brajesh Kumar in Auraiya, and Manish Bansal in Agra. Avinash Kumar is the new DM of Aligarh, Arvind Singh has been posted to Etah, and Amit Aseri to Banda. Ankur Lathar is appointed DM of Farrukhabad, and Kavita Meena will now serve in Hapur. In other changes, Isha Priya has also been transferred to Hapur as DM, Charchit Gaur is the new DM of Sonbhadra, Anupam Shukla of Ghazipur, and Ishan Pratap Singh of Barabanki, completing a significant redistribution of district leadership.
