SWISS Adds Delhi Connections
Responding to a noticeable increase in demand for direct routes to Asia, SWISS, a part of the Lufthansa Group, is enhancing its flight offerings between Switzerland and India. Specifically, from April
1 to May 31, 2026, the airline will introduce a second daily flight on the Delhi-Zurich route. This additional service will utilize an Airbus A330 aircraft and is intended to accommodate travelers who find their original bookings via the Gulf region disrupted. SWISS highlighted that this move is a strategic deployment of available capacity to regions with strong passenger interest, influenced by factors such as operational feasibility, airport slot availability, traffic rights, and fleet deployment capabilities. The airline stated that these new flights are already open for booking, providing a vital alternative for passengers affected by the ongoing situation in the Middle East and seeking direct transit options.
British Airways Expands Routes
In parallel, British Airways is also responding to significant travel demand by augmenting its services from key Indian cities. The airline will launch a third daily flight from Delhi starting April 7, followed by a third daily service from Mumbai commencing on May 15. These expansions are part of a broader strategy to reallocate capacity and meet customer needs in light of the evolving Middle East situation. With these added flights, British Airways will operate up to 63 weekly services between India and the UK, introducing over 1,000 extra seats each week. This significantly enhances travel choices for passengers heading to the UK or planning onward connections through the airline's global network. The airline emphasizes India's importance as a global market and its commitment to providing flexibility and choice for travelers.
