Coastal Tourism Boost
The state government is actively pursuing an ambitious plan to transform the coastal belt into a premier tourist destination. This initiative involves parallel development efforts at both Chirala and Suryalanka
beaches, signaling a significant push to enhance tourism infrastructure and attract visitors. The vision is to create a world-class experience that rivals established tourist hotspots, thereby generating substantial economic opportunities and employment within the region. This comprehensive approach aims to leverage the natural beauty of the coastline and develop it into a vibrant hub for both domestic and international travelers, fostering growth and prosperity along the coast.
Suryalanka's Grand Project
At Suryalanka beach, a monumental development project is currently in progress, with an investment of Rs 97.52 crore. These extensive works are being undertaken as part of the central government's Swadesh Darshan 2.0 scheme, a program designed to promote integrated tourism development. The APTDC Chairman, Dr. Nookasani Balaji, personally reviewed the ongoing construction, which includes the development of new cottages, the creation of inviting relaxation zones, and enhancements to the existing Haritha Resorts. During his inspection, he emphasized the critical importance of maintaining impeccable standards of cleanliness throughout the resort and beach areas. Furthermore, he stressed the need to significantly bolster safety measures, advocating for the deployment of trained lifeguards, the installation of clear safety signboards, and the implementation of robust surveillance systems to ensure a secure and enjoyable experience for all visitors.
Chirala's Adventure Hub
Simultaneously, at Panduranga Beach in Chirala, significant strides are being made in establishing adventure tourism facilities. The district in-charge minister, Kolusu Parthasarathi, alongside local officials including District Collector Dr. V. Vinod Kumar and Chirala MLA M.M. Malakondayya, inaugurated the 'Dive Chirala' adventure facilities. Minister Parthasarathi articulated the Chief Minister's vision to elevate Bapatla's beaches to the stature of Goa, fostering both investment and job creation. He underscored the paramount importance of tourist safety, adherence to local traditions, and the maintenance of national safety benchmarks. The Collector highlighted the historic nature of the day and announced the formation of a district-level adventure committee, comprising representatives from police, fisheries, forest, and marine police departments, to meticulously oversee safety protocols. The MLA commented on Chirala's rapid ascent, noting the immediate popularity of the adventure rides, which have already garnered over three lakh online views.
