Journey Costs Unveiled
Commencing travel on the impressive 63-kilometer Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway will require a toll fee of Rs 275 for a one-way trip. For those planning to make a return journey within a 24-hour period, the combined
cost will be Rs 415. These charges are part of the operational framework for this significant infrastructure project, aiming to facilitate efficient movement between the two major Uttar Pradesh cities. The expressway's design emphasizes speed and smooth traffic flow, making these toll rates a consideration for both occasional and frequent travelers. The introduction of these fees marks the final step before the expressway officially welcomes vehicular traffic, providing a much-anticipated faster link.
Affordable Annual Pass
To cater to the needs of regular commuters, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is introducing a cost-effective annual pass. This pass is priced at Rs 3,075 and offers substantial savings for those who frequently traverse the route. Beyond the financial benefit, the annual pass is designed for convenience, allowing up to 200 toll crossings within a year from the date of purchase. This translates to approximately 100 round trips through the same toll plaza. Furthermore, this pass is also recognized for its utility on other national highways within the region, extending its value to a broader network of travelers. This initiative aims to significantly reduce the expenditure for daily users of the highway system.
Project & Connectivity Boost
The development of this crucial expressway represents a substantial investment in Uttar Pradesh's infrastructure, with the total project cost estimated at approximately Rs 3,700 crore. A significant portion, around Rs 3,000 crore, was allocated to the civil construction works, while the remainder covered the essential acquisition of private land. The expressway itself is a six-lane corridor meticulously engineered to accommodate high-speed travel, with a design speed of up to 120 km per hour. Its strategic alignment ensures enhanced regional connectivity, commencing from Miranpur Pinvat village in Sarojini Nagar and concluding at Kader Patari village in Unnao. Crucially, it will seamlessly integrate with the existing Lucknow-Kanpur National Highway, specifically linking up approximately 5.5 kilometers before the Jajmau Ganga bridge, thereby streamlining travel and logistical operations.
Traffic Restrictions Noted
In adherence to the access-controlled design of this modern, six-lane corridor, certain vehicle types will be prohibited from using the expressway. Specifically, two-wheelers and three-wheelers will not be permitted on this high-speed route. This restriction is in place to ensure the safety and efficiency of traffic flow, maintaining the intended speed capabilities of the expressway. The focus is on accommodating faster, longer-distance vehicular movement, making it unsuitable for slower, lower-capacity vehicles. The expressway is now fully prepared to handle traffic, with authorities awaiting the formal directive from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to officially announce its opening date and commence operations.
