Homestay & Hotel Expansion
Andhra Pradesh is embarking on an ambitious plan to substantially expand its accommodation infrastructure to welcome an increasing influx of tourists. A key objective is the promotion of 10,000 homestays
across various significant tourist destinations, offering travelers a more localized and authentic experience. Concurrently, the state aims to dramatically increase its hotel room inventory, with a target of making 50,000 hotel rooms available by the year 2029. This dual approach to accommodation aims to cater to a diverse range of traveler needs and preferences, ensuring that both domestic and international visitors have comfortable and convenient lodging options as the state develops its tourism potential. This strategic expansion is vital for supporting the projected growth in tourist numbers and fostering a robust tourism economy.
Caravan Parks & Eco-Tourism
To provide families with safe and engaging ways to connect with nature, Andhra Pradesh is prioritizing the development of caravan parks. Plans are in motion to establish these parks in at least 10 to 15 locations throughout the state, offering families a secure and well-equipped base to explore natural surroundings. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance eco-tourism circuits in picturesque regions such as Araku Valley, Maredumilli, and Chintapalli. The government also envisions developing beaches from Baruva to Nellore on a large scale, further integrating coastal beauty with tourism offerings. Additionally, the state intends to introduce tent cities, targeting 1,000 units, particularly in anticipation of events like the Godavari Pushkarams, complementing the caravan park concept with diverse outdoor accommodation solutions.
Attractions & Infrastructure Boost
Significant efforts are being made to fast-track the development of major tourist attractions and improve essential infrastructure to enhance visitor accessibility and enjoyment. Key sites like Gandikota, Suryalanka Beach, and Borra Caves are slated for accelerated development. Preparations for the Godavari Pushkaram ghat works are scheduled for completion by August, while restoration efforts on the historic Havelock Bridge are to be finished by December, ensuring access for tourists. Beyond these, the state is exploring the introduction of amusement parks in Tirupati and Visakhapatnam, alongside promoting eco-tourism and temple tourism in collaboration with forest and endowments departments. This multi-faceted approach aims to create a more compelling and well-rounded tourist experience across the state.
Connectivity & Creative Economy
Andhra Pradesh is also focusing on improving connectivity and fostering a vibrant creative economy to bolster its tourism appeal. The state plans to promote seaplane services under the UDAN scheme and establish water aerodromes in key locations including Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Srisailam, Gandikota, and Kambham Cheruvu. Furthermore, cruise tourism from Visakhapatnam and Krishnapatnam Port will be actively promoted, offering new avenues for exploration. In a forward-looking initiative, Amaravati is envisioned to evolve into a 'Creative City,' actively encouraging content creation and the growth of cultural industries. This strategic push aims to attract investment and talent, contributing to a dynamic tourism ecosystem.
