AWS Server Crash: A widespread Amazon Web Services (AWS) issue has affected several popular online gaming platforms. According to Downdetector, thousands
of players are facing issues while logging in and playing games. More than 4,000 users in the US have reported that they are facing AWS-related issues, Downdetector showed. Several media reports claimed that the Amazon Web Services servers have crashed on the intervening night of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. They said that the crash has affected Steam and PlayStation Network. Amazon Web Services (AWS) offers a series of services for online applications. It hosts applications and computer processes for companies around the world. The best known services are the online storage service Amazon S3 and the remote compute or cloud computing platform EC2. Amazon Web Services are developed and operated by Amazon.com. Earlier in October, AWS faced a major outage that affected its US-EAST-1 region in Northern Virginia. The disruption led to widespread service failures and disrupted several websites and online services. According to Reuters report, it was the largest internet disruption since last year's CrowdStrike malfunction hobbled technology systems in hospitals, banks and airports, highlighting the vulnerability of the world's interconnected technologies. It was at least the third time in five years that AWS's northern Virginia cluster, known as US-EAST-1, contributed to a major internet meltdown.
