What is the story about?
The Consumer Electronics Show has never been short on surprises. In 2026, one of its most unusual talking points wasn’t a car, a robot or a screen, it was a lollipop.
Called 'Lollipop Star', the candy was unveiled at CES by Lava Tech Brands and promises a curious experience: music that plays directly inside the listener’s head while they eat it. The product utilises bone-conduction technology, eliminating the need for traditional speakers or headphones.
At first glance, Lollipop Star looks like a regular candy-on-a-stick. On the inside, the edible top is paired with a compact electronic module built into the handle. Instead of sending sound through the air, the device creates vibrations that travel through the user’s jawbone. When the lollipop is bitten using the back teeth, those vibrations move to the inner ear, creating the sensation of music playing internally.
All the electronics are housed in the stick, with a rounded base that contains the power switch and vibration mechanism. Once switched on, the music starts the moment the user bites down. The result is a short, private audio experience delivered through a sweet treat. While the candy is consumed, the electronic base is reusable.
Lava Tech Brands has positioned Lollipop Star firmly as a novelty item. Company representatives at CES reportedly said the focus was on fun and experimentation rather than high-fidelity sound. Each lollipop comes preloaded with a single music track that cannot be accessed independently of the candy itself.
For its debut, the company has paired specific flavours with exclusive songs by well-known artists. The initial lineup includes a peach-flavoured lollipop featuring Ice Spice, a blueberry version paired with Akon, and a lime-flavoured option featuring Armani White. Priced at $8.99, Lollipop Star is expected to go on sale after CES, with purchases available through the company’s website.
