What is the story about?
Robots dancing to K-pop songs and doing laundry are stealing the show at the world’s largest technology showcase CES 2026 in Las Vegas, US.
Hyundai-owned Boston Dynamic debuted its humanoid Atlas which the company said was three decades in the making. The company also showcased its dog robots with six of them dancing to the beat of K-pop song in unison.
South Korean electronics maker LG also debuted LG CLOiD, its new AI-powered robot home assistant which can be seen doing the mundane household chores such as doing laundry, bringing juice boxes from fridge to the table, and folding towels, all with precision.
John Taylor, Senior Vice President, LG Electronics USA, called the spectacle a result of seven years of research and commercialisation and the "future of robotics at home".
"My favorite is when CLOiD actually folds the towel," he said. "This has been the holy grail for a long time. We've talked about smart appliances for a decade now and they're becoming smarter and smarter."

The company, in a statement, explained that two articulated arms and five individually actuated fingers on each gives dexterity and freedom to emulate "natural movements" and perform delicate tasks.
The robot will also learn and get better with repeated interactions. "CLOiD is designed to sense its surroundings, interact in a natural and user-friendly way and refine its responses over time through repeated interactions – aiming to provide more personalized support for everyday tasks," LG said.
Produced by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), CES 2026 brings together global companies, startups, industry executives to showcase the latest in consumer tech from January 6 to January 9 in Las Vegas.
