Spoiler alert! We're discussing all the new scenes added into "Avengers Endgame: Encore" (in theaters now), so turn away if you don't want to know.
Before "Doomsday" arrives, it's time to party like it's 2019.
Marvel's "Avengers: Endgame" is back in theaters, three months ahead of the highly anticipated release of "Avengers: Doomsday." But this isn't just your standard re-release. Advertised as "Avengers Endgame: Encore," the version playing in theaters starting Sept. 24 features brand new footage added into the film that helps set up the events of "Doomsday."
And the footage is quite revealing: One scene sheds more light on what Doctor Doom is up to, while others feature the return of some characters who weren't announced as being in "Doomsday."
If you don't have time to trek out to the theater to rewatch a three-hour movie for a few minutes of new content, though, we've got you covered. Read on for everything you need to know about the "Avengers Endgame: Encore" release, including a full description of all the additional footage.
How much new content is in 'Avengers Endgame: Encore'?
"Avengers Endgame: Encore" includes four added scenes, amounting to almost five minutes of new footage.
All the new scenes occur at the end of the film, so you'll have to watch the entire movie to see them. One is spliced into the final scene, and the others show up during, and after, the credits.
Prior to that, the presentation of "Avengers: Endgame" is identical to the original version released in 2019, though there is a brief, new introduction by Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr.
Which 'Avengers Endgame: Encore' screenings have the new 'Doomsday' footage?
To make sure you're getting all the new footage, you'll want to get a ticket for either an IMAX showing or a screening labeled "Infinity Vision."
Infinity Vision is new branding Disney is rolling out with "Doomsday" that refers to premium large format showings that have been certified as having optimal image and sound. Look for the Infinity Vision logo on the ticket app of your choice when buying a seat. IMAX and Infinity Vision-certified screens get an "additional sneak peek" at "Doomsday," according to Disney.
Loki returns to help Steve Rogers in 'Avengers Endgame: Encore'
The first added scene appears just prior to the closing credits and is woven into the movie itself.
"Avengers: Endgame" originally ended with Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) sharing a romantic dance. But now, instead of cutting to credits, the movie goes on for another minute.
As Steve and Peggy are dancing, they hear a knock at the door. Peggy answers and asks an unseen person, "Can I help you?"
"No," says the person at the door, who steps in to reveal himself as Tom Hiddleston's Loki. "But I believe I can help you. Both of you."
Loki and Steve then share a look, with Steve clearly shocked by his presence, before the movie cuts to the closing credits. Presumably, Loki is there to chat with Steve about how going back in time to live with Peggy had unintended consequences.
Doctor Doom comes for Bruce Banner in 'Avengers Endgame: Encore'
The next scene occurs during the credits and features Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner, apparently after the events of "Spider-Man: Brand New Day."
Bruce is recording a message explaining he recently suffered his first incident in more than a decade and is now hiding out in self-containment in an underground military complex.
He goes on to say he has been experimenting with a new gamma suppression serum. While he's speaking, the lights flicker and the machines start to glitch in Bruce's underground lab. As the screen cuts to black, we hear the voice of Downey's Doctor Doom.
"Mr. Banner," Doom says.
"What are you doing here?" Bruce asks.
"I'm here to collect you," Doom replies menacingly.
We then see a glowing green symbol appear on the ground, and the scene ends with Bruce nowhere in sight.
Ruffalo was notably left off the cast list for "Doomsday" when it was announced last year, so this scene could either explain his absence or suggest he actually is in the movie as a captive of Doom.
Ke Huy Quan, Owen Wilson return to MCU in 'Avengers Endgame: Encore'
The next scene takes place at the Time Variance Authority headquarters from "Loki," where we can see a photo of Loki on the wall that says, "Employee of all time."
Mobius, played by Owen Wilson, and other TVA agents are discussing the fact that two universes are about to collide. On a monitor, they observe what appear to be missiles being launched from both Earths at the other. Each universe is trying to take out the other before a collision occurs, explains Ke Huy Quan's O.B.
An alarm then starts going off, and things grow more frantic as the TVA agents explain that an increasing number, as many as 3,000, universes are colliding into each other.
"The multiverse is collapsing," O.B. warns, and the scene ends there.
This is the first indication that Quan and Wilson are in "Doomsday," assuming this scene shows up in the movie. Neither actor was announced as part of the film's cast.
'Avengers Endgame: Encore' scene is a retcon of the original movie
The original version of "Avengers: Endgame" didn't have any credits scenes, but it did have a credits sound: When the credits finished scrolling in the 2019 movie, metal clanging could be heard, with no accompanying visual.
At the time, it was explained that this was intended to be a full-circle nod to the first MCU movie, "Iron Man," with the sound being Tony Stark working on his suit from that film.
"It's really just an homage, sort of a little bookend," director Joe Russo told USA TODAY in 2019. "It started it and it ends it."
But "Avengers Endgame: Encore" retcons this: Along with the clanging sounds, we now see a few quick shots of Doctor Doom crafting his mask.
This retroactively makes the ending of "Endgame" a teaser for "Doomsday," even if this wasn't the original intention. It also could suggest some spiritual or thematic link between Doctor Doom and Tony Stark, whether or not the characters are actually variants of each other.

Lock those fan theories about what it all means now, because there's not much time left: "Avengers: Doomsday" hits theaters on Dec. 18.
