"Star Trek" and "X-Men" icon Patrick Stewart died Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 86. The beloved actor's death was announced on his social media Thursday, Oct. 29, revealing he was "in the loving care of his beloved wife Sunny, following a brief and poignant journey with Alzheimer's Disease and Lewy Body Dementia."
"He has been held in the warm embrace of family and friends, surrounded by live music, prayer, tears, laughter, and the kind of profound emotion that only he could inspire after a lifetime of devotion to us all," the statement read.
Stewart was best known for portraying Capt. Jean-Luc Picard in "Star Trek: The Next Generation" and Professor Charles Xavier in the "X-Men" film franchise. But in his personal life, he held the roles of husband
and father.
The British actor, who was married three times, is survived by his third wife, musician Sunny Ozell, and two children, Daniel and Sophie, from his first marriage to actress and dancer Sheila Falconer.

Patrick Stewart's three wives: Timeline
In 1966, Stewart married his first wife, Sheila Falconer, with whom he went on to welcome son Daniel, born in 1967, and daughter Sophie, born 1972.
Stewart expressed remorse over his 1990 divorce from Falconer, who had remained in London while he worked on his star-marking "Star Trek" role in Los Angeles. Reflecting on the marriage's painful end in his 2023 memoir, "Making It So," Stewart acknowledged his responsibility.
"The memoir is the story of my life, and I've tried to be as authentic as possible," Stewart told USA TODAY at the time. "My first divorce was harrowing. And I was to blame for it being harrowing."
Stewart married his second wife, television producer Wendy Neuss, in 2000. The couple divorced three years later.
In 2013, Stewart tied the knot for the third and final time with singer Ozell, who was 40 years his junior. He shared the news with a simple Twitter post that read, "Yes, married," alongside a photo of the two submerged in a ball pit.
The ceremony was officiated by none other than Stewart's longtime friend and "X-Men" costar Ian McKellen, who also posted a photo of himself on Facebook at the time, showing off a shirt that said "Minister" and his Doctor of Divinity certificate.
"I did my part," the "Lord of the Rings" actor wrote in the caption.
Stewart was so smitten with Ozell that he wanted his "Star Trek" alter ego to find the same marital bliss. The actor envisioned ending "Star Trek: Picard" in 2023 with Picard happily settled down with a wife, enjoying a peaceful life at his vineyard. "If I have found true love, shouldn't he?" Stewart wrote in his 2023 memoir, "Making It So." But the scene was never filmed.
Ozell was at Picard's side at the actor's real-life end.
Who are Patrick Stewart's two children?
Throughout his career, Stewart and his son Daniel, 59, appeared in multiple projects together, including in a 1992 episode of "Star Trek: The Next Generation," the thriller movie "Death Train" in 1993 and again for the 2015 sitcom "Blunt Talk."
Sophie, 54, has largely stayed out of the spotlight but occasionally accompanied her famous father to red carpet events, including the 2002 London premiere of "Star Trek: Nemesis" and the 2009 Laurence Olivier Awards.
In recent years, the Grammy-winner Stewart has opened up about his rocky relationship with his children, telling the Irish Independent he was “practically non-existent" during their upbringing. “There’s not a day that goes by that I’m not pained by it,” he added.
