Former England star Raheem Sterling has been charged with dangerous driving and possession of nitrous oxide after crashing his car in May.
The charges followed a single-vehicle collision on May 28 in Hampshire, near the southern coast of England.
"A driver will appear in court next month to face charges following a collision on the M3," a Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary spokesmantold BBC News.
"Raheem Sterling, 31, from Berkshire, has been charged for the following offences: dangerous driving, possession of nitrous oxide for wrongful inhalation, failing to provide a specimen.
"The charges come following a single vehicle collision, involving a Lamborghini, on the M3 southbound, close to the Minley Interchange [Hampshire], on 28 May, 2026.
"No other vehicles were involved and no injuries were reported. Mr Sterling is due to appear at Basingstoke magistrates court on 15 September."
Sterling has been a free agent since leaving Dutch side Feyenoord at the end of last season.
The winger has played 82 times for England, scoring 20 goals while helping the Three Lions reach the 2018 World Cup semifinals and the Euro 2020 final.
Sterling has represented a number of England's biggest clubs during his career, including Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal.
