Dan Vladar, whose steady goaltending last season helped the Philadelphia Flyers end a five-year playoff drought, left a Tuesday, Sept. 22 NHL preseason game against the Boston Bruins with an injury and didn't return.
Vladar, 29, had reached out for a loose puck in the first period and Bruins forward Tanner Jeannot appeared to clip him as he skated by. The goalie lost his stick and Boston's Michael Eyssimont scored on a deflection of a shot from the point.
Vladar then skated to the bench and a trainer appeared to be looking at his arm. The Flyers later announced that he had an upper-body injury and wouldn't return to the game.

Vladar signed with the Flyers
ahead of last season as a free agent and grabbed the No. 1 job with a 29-14-7 record, 2.42 goals against average and a .906 save percentage. Philadelphia beat the Pittsburgh Penguins in the first round of the playoffs before losing in the second round.
The goalie signed a five-year, $27.5 million extension during the offseason.

The Flyers said Vladar had an upper-body injury. He was replaced in net by Aleksei Kolosov in the 5-1 loss.
