Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell commended his fellow head coach, Kevin O'Connell of the Minnesota Vikings, for demonstrating sportsmanship in the aftermath of the scary situation involving Lions linebacker Jack Campbell.
Jack Campbell remains at a local Detroit hospital with a neck injury he suffered during the Lions' 19-15 victory
over the Vikings on Sunday, Nov. 1. The team said Monday afternoon that the "preliminary indications" were positive, with Dan Campbell thanking those who had wished Jack Campbell well. That included O'Connell, who Dan Campbell called "a class act."
"Looking out for him, checking in on Jack," Campbell said. "I know those guys said a prayer for Jack. And that just says a lot about the humanity of it.
"We're highly
competitive. This league is highly competitive. But it is a brotherhood. And it just puts things in perspective. These are human beings, man, that have families and real lives. So it's just a classy deal, man."

O'Connell's opening statement during his postgame news conference Sunday began with a mention of Jack Campbell. He asked Dan Campbell if he had any update, but his counterpart didn't have much information at the time.
"Definitely something that you hate seeing," O'Connell said. "Competitive, super physical NFC North game, but still hard to talk about when you see something like that. So, just thoughts and prayers with him for sure."
