New Yorkers have seen plenty of stormy days this month.
From July 4 thunderstorms to multiple rainy days in a row, locals have gotten used to carrying their umbrella around.
Here's how to prepare accordingly for the rest of the week, and hopefully make outside plans that won't be disrupted.
NYC weather
Hot days with rain have become somewhat of a summer staple this month.
Earlier this week, the city prepared for major rainfall and issued a travel advisory, which was in effect from Tuesday, July 28 to Wednesday, July 29.
A flood watch was also issued by the National Weather Service as the city's Emergency Management agency says that 2 to 4 inches of rain is expected citywide, with "locally higher amounts."
Unfortunately, it seems like the rain isn't done quite
yet.
Thursday's weather forecast showed a possibility of thunderstorms, with a high of 77 degrees. But the weekend may be safe.
The rest of the week's weather forecast is as follows, according to AccuWeather:
- Friday, July 31: Warm with clouds and sun; high of 83 degrees, low of 69 degrees
- Saturday, August 1: Humid; high of 85 degrees, low of 70 degrees
- Sunday, August 2: Cloudy and humid; high of 82 degrees, low of 70 degrees
- Monday, August 3: Cloudy, humid with a possibility of thunderstorms; high of 83 degrees, low of 69 degrees
What to do if it rains in NYC
During periods of intense rainfall, the city warns residents who live in basement apartments to prepare to move to higher ground. Flooded subway stations should also be avoided, and New Yorkers should never drive or walk through flooded streets.
