Lollapalooza is set to once again take over the city of Chicago this weekend, drawing hundreds of thousands of attendees from across the Midwest and beyond to see its lineup of more than 170 artists.
To make way for the massive incoming crowds, many streets, sidewalks and parks surrounding Grant Park will be shut down temporarily.
Those looking to avoid an agonizing morning commute or a chaotic weekend trip to the city should steer clear of the following areas.
Which streets will be closed for Lollapalooza 2026?
The following roads will be closed during Lollapalooza through the beginning of August:
- East Balbo Drive from Columbus to DuSable Lake Shore Drive: July 15th – Aug. 9th
- East Balbo Drive from Michigan to Columbus: July 27th– Aug. 3rd
- East Jackson Drive from Columbus to DuSable Lake Shore Drive: July 21st – Aug. 8th
- East Jackson Drive from Michigan to Columbus: July 27th – Aug. 3rd
- South Columbus Drive from Monroe to Roosevelt: July 27th – Aug. 3rd
- South Columbus Drive (Northbound, two center lanes) from 13th Street to Roosevelt: July 27th – Aug. 3rd
- South Congress Plaza Drive from Michigan to Columbus: July 27th – Aug. 3rd
- East Monroe Street from Michigan to DuSable Lake Shore Drive: July 27th – Aug. 3rd
Which sidewalks will be closed for Lollapalooza 2026?
In addition to the closed roads, the following sidewalks will be closed off for Lollapalooza:
- South Michigan Ave from Jackson to 11th Street Bridge: July 28th – Aug. 2nd
- East Balbo Drive (both sides) from Columbus to DuSable Lake Shore Drive: July 15th – Aug. 9th
- South Columbus Drive (Northbound side) from Roosevelt to Ida B Wells: July 15th – Aug. 7th
- South Columbus Drive (Southbound side) from 9th Street Yard to South Ida B. Wells: July 20th – Aug. 8th
- East Jackson Drive (both sides) from Columbus to DuSable Lake Shore Drive: July 20th – Aug. 8th
- DuSable Lake Shore Drive (Northbound side) from Monroe to Roosevelt: July 22nd
- East Monroe Street (Eastbound side) from Columbus to DuSable Lake Shore Drive: July 18th and July 20th – Aug. 8th
- DuSable Lake Shore Drive (Southbound side) from Monroe to Roosevelt: July 25th – Aug. 8th
- East Balbo Drive (both sides) from Michigan to Columbus: July 27th – Aug. 3rd

Will tennis, pickle ball courts be open during Lollapalooza 2026?
Grant Park tennis and pickle ball courts are closed through Monday, Aug. 3. They will reopen at 6 a.m. on Tuesday,
Aug. 4.
Will Grant Park dog park be closed during Lollapalooza 2026?
The Grant Bark Park will be closed from July 15 to Aug. 7, with a temporary dog park available for use during this time southeast of the Skate Park.
The Bark Park will reopen Saturday, Aug. 8.
Will Metra service be impacted by Lollapalooza?
Metra will expand its service and availability between July 30 and Aug. 2 by providing extra trains with added railcars. The Chicago Transit Authority and Metra will post sign boards at Union and Ogilvie stations to help direct riders to the appropriate bus routes.
Will CTA train service be impacted? How about buses?
Riders will able to rely on Red and Blue Line trains to get to and from the festival, with Yellow Line service extended to 1 a.m. each night.
