Sam’s Club is opening a new location soon, marking the company’s 31st store in California and its eighth in Northern California.
The location will open on Thursday, Sept. 24 in Lathrop, about 11 miles south of Stockton, the company confirmed to USA TODAY.
Sam’s Club’s Chief Operating Officer Steve Schrobilgen said in a statement on Sept. 22 that the Lathrop store marks an "exciting milestone for Sam’s Club."
"We’re focused on building clubs that reflect how our members want to shop today," Schrobilgen said, adding that shoppers can use the company’s curbside pickup and delivery options and grab their items within an hour of ordering them.
The opening comes after Sam’s Club recently announced it would update its logo, slogan and stores over time.
New stores include a "modern visual look," the company previously told USA TODAY.
In July, the company opened a location in Lebanon, Tennessee with the updated look, an outdoor cafe and products from local businesses.
Sam’s Club has over 600 clubs in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, the company said.

Inside the new Sam’s Club location in California
While there’s a soft opening for members from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. PT on Wednesday, Sept. 23, the grand opening won’t be until 7:30 a.m. the following day.
The location in Lathrop measures nearly 170,000 square feet and includes a full-service floral department, Sam's Club said.
There will be a ribbon-cutting at the grand opening on Sept. 24, as well as a presentation of over $30,000 in grant money to local nonprofits. Among those attending the grand opening are Club Manager Ann Perry and Lathrop Mayor Paul Akinjo.
There’s also a daily lineup of events planned for Sept. 24 to Sept. 26, Sam’s Club said. From 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day, there will be product sampling, giveaways and games.
Jack Mancuso, a food and grilling content creator with over 5 million followers on Instagram and TikTok, will be there from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. PT on Sept. 25, Sam’s Club said.
Sam’s Club said the company is offering customers at the new location a discount on memberships until Sept. 30 as part of the store’s grand opening.
Customers can pay $50 for a year-long Sam’s Club Plus membership – that’s $70 off. For a Club membership, customers can pay $25 instead, saving $35.
Sam’s Club warehouses set to open
This year, Sam's Club has already opened one location in July in Lebanon, Tennessee. Other Sam’s Club locations slated for a 2026 opening include:
- Lebanon, Tennessee – 600 Willard Hagan Drive (opened on July 30)
- Lathrop, California – 16150 Golden Valley Parkway(opening Sept. 24)
- Visalia, California – 4545 S. Mooney Blvd. (date TBD)
- Tomball, Texas – 13255 N. Grand Parkway W. (date TBD)
