"Family Matters" star Reginald VelJohnson made a rare red-carpet appearance this week, stepping out in Los Angeles.
The 74-year-old actor, best known for playing beloved patriarch Carl Winslow on the long-running ABC sitcom, attended the Los Angeles premiere of A24's "Onslaught" on Aug. 26. The outing marked VelJohnson’s first red-carpet sighting in two years, according to E! News.
VelJohnson posed for photos at the premiere, wearing white pants and a cream-colored T-shirt featuring a lion graphic. He completed the casual look with a white baseball cap, patterned shoes and a cane.
The appearance offered a rare glimpse of the actor, whose decadeslong career has made him a familiar face to generations of television and movie fans.

VelJohnson starred as police officer and Winslow family patriarch Carl Winslow throughout the nine-season run of "Family Matters," which aired from 1989 to 1998.
Before becoming a sitcom favorite, VelJohnson appeared opposite Bruce Willis as LAPD Sgt. Al Powell in the 1988 action classic "Die Hard." His film credits also include 1989's "Turner & Hooch" and 1986's "Crocodile Dundee."

VelJohnson has continued acting in the years since "Family Matters" ended, including recent voice work on the animated superhero series "Invincible," where he voiced Principal B.N. Winslow.
He also returned to network television in 2024 as a contestant on Season 33 of "Dancing with the Stars," where he was paired with professional dancer Emma Slater. The pair were eliminated early in the competition but developed a close friendship during their time on the show.
