A "supertall" skyscraper is set to soar 100 stories above the ground in Miami upon its completion, breaking the record for the tallest building in the area.
The Waldorf Astoria Residences Miami, constructed to look like a series of glass cubes stacked atop one another, is located on Biscayne Blvd. near Bayside Marketplace.
It will be 1,049 feet tall when construction "tops out," according to its website, which says it will be the tallest residential building south of New York City. Currently, the building is expected to be completed in 2028.
Property Markets Group, Greybrook Realty Partners, S2 Development and Mohari Hospitality are all listed as developers on the building's website. Carlos Ott is listed as the "conceptual artist," and Sieger Suarez
Architects is also involved.
What is a 'supertall' building?
A "supertall" building is one that is 984 feet or taller, according to the Council on Vertical Urbanism, while a "megatall" building is one that is 1,968 feet or taller.
There are 173 completed supertall buildings and three completed megatall buildings globally, according to the CVU.

Currently, the tallest building in Miami is the 85-story Cipriani Residences, which is 85 stories and measures about 950 feet.
It is still under construction with occupancy expected to begin in 2027, and "topped out" in July of 2026. It is located at 1420 S. Miami Ave. in Miami.
