School may be back in session across the Atlanta metro, but that doesn't mean summer is completely over.
This summer brought star-studded concerts, international soccer and more to the city, and now locals will be able to travel all over the world from Atlanta's own parks.
The free "Movies in the Park" series, organized by the City of Atlanta Department of Parks and Recreation, is back for another year, so here's a look at the lineup and locations.
What movies will play at this year's 'Movies in the Park' in Atlanta?
"Movies in the Park" is a free program where Atlanta residents can go to one of the selected parks with their own blankets, chairs and treats to watch some recently released movies and some classics.
The movies will take place every Friday and Saturday of August, and are hosted at a different Atlanta
park each weekend.
Here's the movie lineup:
- Friday, Aug. 7 — Michael, C.T. Martin Rec Center
- Saturday, Aug. 8 — GOAT, Knight Park
- Friday, Aug. 14 — Incredibles, Grant Park
- Saturday, Aug. 15 — The Lego Batman Movie, Kathryn Johnston Park
- Friday, Aug. 21 — The Magnificent 7, (18+ only) Center Hill Park
- Saturday, Aug. 22 — Zootopia 2, Benteen Park
- Friday, Aug. 28 — The Book of Clarence, (18+ only) West Manor Park
- Saturday, Aug. 29 — Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Atlanta Memorial Park
What happens if it rains?
The movies will begin at dusk each night, and will be weather dependent.
If it does rain and a movie night is cancelled, it will be rescheduled for another weekend in October, according to the parks department.
The schedule is subject to change.
