Bobb'e Thompson, a child star best known for sitcoms such as "The Tracy Morgan Show" and "That's So Raven," has been sentenced to more than two years in prison.
Thompson – whose listed age is 30 and who previously pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm by a prohibited person on Sept. 16 – was sentenced in Iowa federal court to 30 months in prison and two years of supervised release, according to court documents obtained by USA TODAY Sept. 20.
USA TODAY has reached out to Thompson's public defender for comment.
Thompson allegedly had a loaded pistol that was reported stolen in his car when he was pulled over by a state trooper while driving 104 miles per hour in Cerro Gordo County, Iowa, on Sept. 22, 2025, according to prosecutors.
A grand jury
indicted him on Jan. 14, and he entered a guilty plea on April 28.
Thompson's 2.5-year sentence will be served consecutively with "any term of imprisonment that may be imposed" by other pending criminal cases in Washington and Missouri, according to U.S. District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand's judgment.
Strand recommended that Thompson be incarcerated in a federal prison in Oklahoma, Illinois, Kansas or "a Bureau of Prisons facility as close to the defendant's family as possible."
According to prosecutors, Thompson was previously convicted of battery with serious bodily injury as well as assault with force in Los Angeles in January 2020. In 2022, he was convicted of prohibited possession of a firearm in LA.
Thompson started his TV career in 2002 on "My Wife and Kids" and went on to appear on "The Tracy Morgan Show," "30 Rock" and the 2021 VH1 film "Miracles Across 125th Street" starring Nick Cannon, according to his IMDB page.
On "That's So Raven" and its short-lived spin-off, "Corey in the House," Johnson played Stanley, a foe to Raven's younger brother, Corey, who had a crush on Raven, played by Raven-Symoné.
He appeared on five seasons of Cannon's "Wild 'n Out" between 2018 and 2020, returning for one episode in 2023, and his most recent credit was the 2026 ALLBLK movie "Funny Thing About Love."
