Many flock to Philadelphia for its urban charm, walkable streets, nightlife and never-ending restaurant scene.
And a lot of those residents are renters.
But, on the list of top places to rent in the country, where does Philadelphia actually sit?
According to personal finance company WalletHub, roughly 46 million American households are renters, though there are a variety of factors that play into renting being the more cost-effective option.
Here's how Philadelphia ranks on WalletHub's "Best & Worst Places to Rent in America," composed using 21 measurements of quality of life and "rental attractiveness" while comparing over 180 rental markets.
Is Philadelphia one of the best places to rent?
Out of 182 locations, Philadelphia ranked overall at 171, with a total score of 38.59.
The city ranked 140
for its rental market and affordability and 164 for its quality of life.
A number of metrics were used to determine each location's rankings, including looks at sublet laws, cost of living, rent-to-price ratios, job markets, safety, public school systems and more.
Where is the best place to rent in America?
According to WalletHub's list, Scottsdale, Arizona took first place with a score of 69.05.
While Scottsdale ranked No. 24 for its rental market and affordability, it took first place for quality of life.
Sioux Falls, South Dakota ranked first for its rental market and affordability, though quality of life came in at the 108th placement, leading to an overall rank of No. 9.
