The Grand Slam season will end where it began: with Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina playing for a major championship.
Sabalenka and Rybakina meet Saturday, Sept. 12 in the US Open women's singles final at Arthur Ashe Stadium, seven months after Rybakina rallied to beat Sabalenka in the Australian Open final. Now, Sabalenka has a chance to answer in New York, where she is pursuing fifth Grand Slam championship, while trying to become the first woman since Serena Williams in 2012-14 to win three consecutive US Open titles.
Rybakina, who also won Wimbledon in 2022, enters her first US Open final having secured the No. 1 ranking she will assume after the tournament. She defeated Coco Gauff in three sets in Thursday's semifinals, while Sabalenka
advanced with a straight-sets victory over Jessica Pegula.
