Get McReady, the McRib sandwich returns this week, but not to all of its restaurants across the U.S.
The pork sandwich, the craving of many devoted McDonald's customers, will begin to show up in some select cities regionally for a limited time on Tuesday, Oct. 27, the fast-food giant has told USA TODAY.
Among the cities confirmed by McDonald's to have the McRib: Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, Atlanta, Philadelphia and Dallas. Customers are advised to check the McDonald’s app to see if there's McRib on the menu at a restaurant near them.
The McRib's return comes sooner on the calendar than its typical annual appearance. In 2025, the McRib returned to some markets in mid-November. The previous year, McDonald's brought the McRib sandwich back nationwide
in late November 2024.

What is the McRib?
The McRib, made from pork, water, salt, dextrose and – a surprising ingredient – rosemary extract, is a pork patty shaped to resemble a rack of ribs, but there are no bones. The sandwich comes on a bun with barbecue sauce, pickles and onions.McDonald's executive chef Rene Arend, who also created Chicken McNuggets in 1979, is credited with the McRib's creation, with the help of developments in restructured meat for the military made by University of Nebraska professor Roger Mandigo. The sandwich made its debut in Kansas City, Kansas, in 1981 and became available nationwide in 1982.
