New York Jets running back Breece Hall suffered an apparent injury in the fourth quarter of his team's Week 3 game against the Detroit Lions.
Hall was banged up after a second-and-goal run in the early stages of the fourth quarter. He was trying to turn the corner but was knocked out of bounds by linebacker Trevor Nowaske.
Hall reached for his leg after the play and remained down on the ground. He received medical treatment on the field in the wake of his injury.
Braelon Allen replaced Hall on the field for the Jets' third-and-goal play. Geno Smith was able to throw a touchdown to Jeremy Ruckert with Hall on the sidelines.
Here's the latest on Hall status.
Breece Hall injury update
The Jets ruled Hall out with a thigh injury. Its severity is unclear.
Who is Breece Hall's backup?
Braelon Allen in Hall's
backup. The 22-year-old was a fourth-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and entered Sunday's game against the Packers having logged 125 carries for 457 yards and four touchdowns across 23 career games.
Allen handled 10 carries for 40 yards in the Jets' Week 1 win over the Tennessee Titans before posting seven yards and a touchdown on five carries in the Jets' Week 2 loss to the Green Bay Packers.
Jets RB depth chart
The Jets have four running backs on their 53-man roster but just three are active for Sunday's game against the Packers. Below is a look at the pecking order within that unit:
- Breece Hall
- Braelon Allen
- Isaiah Davis
- Kene Nwangwu (inactive)
Davis, like Allen, was selected by the Jets in the 2024 NFL Draft. The 24-year-old has posted 73 carries for 410 yards and two touchdowns across 34 career games but did not play an offensive snap across New York's first two games.
Meanwhile, Nwangwu is better known as a kick returner but he totaled 49 yards on 13 carries for the Jets last year.
