Aaron Judge left Wednesday's series finale in Minneapolis during the sixth inning with no team explanation. The New York Yankees' slugger had just returned on Sept. 8 from the 60-day injured list after missing 99 days on the injured list with a broken rib.
There was no immediate announcement, except when Heliot Ramos was announced as the pinch hitter in the top of the sixth inning.
The Yankees are easing him back after being out since May 31, but Judge had Tuesday off and generally when they are taking him out early for rest, the team waits until after his at-bat.
Judge entered Wednesday hitting .243 with 18 home runs and 41 RBIs in 65 games. He missed 84 games with a fractured right top rib, an injury he had suffered before in 2019 and then apparently
reinjured in April of this season.
With less than two weeks left in the season and the Yankees chasing the Tampa Bay Rays in the American League East, New York can replace Judge in right field. They cannot replace his bat.
