There's another train route coming to Pittsburgh.
Amtrak is getting ready to add a second train from Pittsburgh to New York, officials announced during a July 29 public board meeting.
The train will travel through the Allegheny Mountains, along Horseshoe Curve and through Pennsylvania Dutch County as it takes travelers from the Steel City to the Big Apple.

When will Pittsburgh get a new Amtrak train?
The new train heading from Pittsburgh to New York is expected sometime in 2026, though officials didn't say specifically when it would be added.

Currently, there's one Amtrak train with a route from Pittsburgh to New York, according to Amtrak's website. It's a journey that takes approximately nine hours and 20 minutes to complete, leaving
Pittsburgh at 7:30 a.m. every day and arriving at or just after 4:50 p.m. in New York.
Along the way, the train stops in Greensburg, Latrobe, Johnstown, Altoona, Tyrone, Huntingdon, Lewistown, Harrisburg, Elizabethtown, Lancaster, Exton, Paoli and Philadelphia in Pennsylvania, and Trenton and Newark, New Jersey, before arriving in New York.
The train leaves New York at roughly 11 a.m. on its way back and arrives in Pittsburgh around 8 p.m.
There are also Amtrak connection in Pittsburgh to the Floridian train No. 40, as well as trains heading to and from Cleveland, Toledo and other intermediate points.
