Introducing the “Newlyweds.”
NBC teased its new sitcom starring real-life married couple Téa Leoni and Tim Daly, releasing first look images Wednesday, Sept. 2.
In the series debuting Oct. 23 (Fridays, 8:30
p.m. ET/PT and streaming Saturdays on Peacock), Leoni and Daly play opposites who wed after a whirlwind romance. Jeanie (Leoni) is more go with the flow, while James (Daly) is a professor who is wound a little tighter.
Jamie Lee Curtis will appear as a recurring guest star, and according to the images, she brings the laughs. Her characters appears to startle Jeanie in one photo, clad in a chic black and gold ensemble.
In another photo, Curtis’ character locks eyes with James. Curtis, 67, also serves as an executive producer on the series.
Other images show Jeanie hinting at her and James' Vegas elopment by wearing a “Vegas is for Lovers” t-shirt. In one shot, Jeanie and James have big smiles on their face as they walk through a home holding hands, while another snap shows them sitting with the rest of the cast, potentially at a brunch.
Leoni and Daly’s offscreen romance blossomed while playing husband and wife on CBS’ political drama “Madam Secretary” (2014-2019). Though Daly, 70, said the two had met briefly before, he shared during an interview with LifeMinute that he fell for Leoni, 60, “about four minutes after” meeting her on set.
"She just kind of caught me in her tractor beam, and I was terrified,” he said. “It was quick. It was very fast.”
The couple exchanged vows during a small New York ceremony in July 2025.
At an NBCUniversal Backlot Pass media preview event on Aug. 10, Leoni said she and Daly “were kind of sniffing around to play together again."
“The world got darker, and we wanted to get lighter,” she said. “We thought we’ve done this particular medium, and loved it, and we wanted to spend our days together."
“We spent six years pretending to be married on TV, and I would get to do it again,” Daly said, “but we actually are married. It's a miracle. It's really fun. It's cool, and we still like each other."
Also starring in "Newlyweds" is Emma Meisel, Ignacio Diaz-Silverio, Bill O’Neill and Al Madrigal. Along with Curtis, the series was co-created by Gail Lerner, who also serves as showrunner and executive producer.
