The Freedom 250th Grand Prix is taking over Washington, DC, this weekend with a 1.7-mile racetrack zipping through the nation's capital.
More than 140,000 people are expected to attend the District's first-ever IndyCar series race taking place Sunday, Aug. 23. Practice and qualifying races are scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 22, followed by the main race the next day.
The competition includes seven turns with the U.S. Capitol and Washington Monument in the background.
The race has been described as one of the signature events commemorating the country's 250th anniversary, according to DC250.
President Donald Trump is expected to ride around the track in his motorcade before the event begins.

Where does the racetrack run through DC?
The seven-turn race will loop around the east end of the National Mall and continue down Pennsylvania and Independence Avenues, home to some of the city's most important traffic intersections.
