The Dallas Cowboys were able to mount a game-tying drive with seconds left in their Week 3 game against the Baltimore Ravens in Rio de Janeiro.
Many assumed Brandon Aubrey's 23-yard field goal would send the NFL's Brazil game into overtime. The Ravens had other ideas.
First-year Ravens coach Jesse Minter decided to let Lamar Jackson attempt a pass with 7 seconds left in regulation. Baltimore was on its 35-yard line and needed about 26 yards to get into range for kicker Tyler Loop, who had a career-long of 57 yards.
Jackson dropped back to pass and found Zay Flowers over the middle of the field. The 5-9 receiver elevated to successfully make a catch 27 yards down the field before quickly going to the ground as time ticked down to 1 second.
While the clock originally appeared to hit zero after Flowers' catch, the officials ruled Jackson had called time out with 1 second left on the clock. That allowed Loop to come on and attempt a 56-yard field goal to break the 31-all tie.
Loop had faced a similar situation in Week 18 of the 2026 NFL season, when he had an opportunity to hit a 44-yard field goal to send the Ravens to the playoffs. He pushed that one wide right, instead allowing the Pittsburgh Steelers to advance.
This time, Loop was able to make the kick. He tucked it just inside the left upright to give the Ravens a 34-31 victory.
Loop was immediately swarmed by his teammates on the field after making the kick.
The Ravens improved to 2-1 with the win and are now in a four-way tie atop the AFC North with all of their division rivals. Meanwhile, the Cowboys are sitting at 1-2 and will be left ruing their inability to cover the middle of the field in the final moments of regulation against Baltimore.
