South Florida cities are among the best places to retire in the U.S., according to a new report by WalletHub.
The top three cities were all in Florida — Orlando, Miami and Tampa, in that order. Fort Lauderdale also made the list, ranking eighth.
The report compared 182 cities based on various metrics, including their affordability, activities, quality of life and health care.
Miami ranked second overall, with a total score of 59.40, an affordability rank of 54, an activities rank of 6 and a quality of life rank of 91. Fort Lauderdale ranked eighth, with a total score of 57.92, an affordability rank of 75, an activities rank of 13 and a quality of life rank of 64.
WalletHub said Miami was the "second-best place to retire" largely due to an "abundance
of activities popular with retirees."
"For example, Miami ranks at the top of the country when it comes to adult volunteer activities, art galleries and fishing facilities per capita, and it has the 17th-most museums and 11th-most recreation and senior centers," reads the report.
