Travis Kelce has a new campaign co-star: a fluffy white Samoyed.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end appeared in Tommy Hilfiger’s Fall 2026 campaign, titled “Only in New York,” which is set at The Plaza Hotel in New York City. Kelce, a global brand ambassador for the label, is joined in the campaign by Gigi Hadid, JISOO, Peggy Gou, Frances Tiafoe, Carmelo Anthony and Tommy and Dee Hilfiger.
But one of the campaign’s most attention-grabbing appearances comes from Kelce and Taylor Swift’s dog, a Samoyed reportedly named Wendy. The breed has become known for its remarkable white coat and friendly expression, though prospective owners should know the dogs are also active working breeds that need exercise, training and substantial grooming.
The newlyweds were first spotted with their new dog after landing in Palm Beach, Florida, on July 12, sparking renewed interest in the majesticly fluffy breed.
Here’s what to know about the Samoyed, and the canine scene-stealer appearing alongside Kelce.
- According to the Royal Kennel Club, Samoyeds trace their origins to Arctic regions of Siberia, where they worked alongside the Samoyede people. The dogs assisted with tasks including herding, hunting and pulling sleds.
- The Samoyed is a working breed, and its cloudlike coat helped it withstand intensely cold climates. That thick, insulating double coat remains one of the breed’s most recognizable features.
- Samoyeds are smart, social dogs that often enjoy having a job, whether that means training, hiking, scent games or dog sports. A quick walk around the block may not be enough stimulation for every dog, the American Kennel Club noted.
- Most healthy adult Samoyeds need at least one to two hours of physical activity per day, ideally divided among walks, play, training and chances to explore, veterinarian Dr. Kathryn Dench previously told USA TODAY.
- Training is particularly important for Samoyeds because they are strong, sociable dogs that may pull on the leash, jump when excited or become distracted around people and other animals.
- A Samoyed’s coat needs regular care. Owners should brush through the full coat several times a week, and often daily during heavier shedding periods, rather than merely smoothing the top layer.
- Samoyeds are often affectionate family companions, but their social nature means they generally do best with companionship, consistency and regular engagement with their people.
- The breed’s famous expression is often called the “Sammy smile," per the Samoyed Club of America. The gentle upturn at the corners of the mouth gives Samoyeds a cheerful look, one suited to a major fashion campaign.
