If Prince Harry has taught Duchess Meghan anything over the years, it's how to look on the bright side.
The Duchess of Sussex, who's been married to the British royal for nearly a decade, opened up about the emotional advice that Harry has given her for navigating life's adversities, while attending a screening Tuesday, July 28, for the couple's Girl Scouts documentary, "Cookie Queens."
According to People magazine, Meghan was asked during a Q&A at the event about how she gets through "tough moments," prompting her to recall a pearl of wisdom Harry had previously shared with her in their marriage.
"Funny enough, I was thinking about something my husband told me ages ago, because we all go through experiences and life is full of surprises,” Meghan,
44, said, per People. "But you know, he was a helicopter pilot in the British Army for 10 years. And sometimes on really hard days … he said, 'Hey, but my love, you know, even if there's a storm happening, above the storm, the sun's always shining.'"
Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry tied the knot in May 2018 in an ornate ceremony at Windsor Castle in Harry's native United Kingdom. Only the second time a member of the British monarchy has married an American, the union was met with manic fanfare on both sides of the pond.
Meghan, an actress best known for the legal drama "Suits," proved a complicated addition to the royal family as rumors of internal conflict swirled and a racist tabloid backlash grew.
After several years as working royals, the pair officially stepped back from their senior duties in 2020 as part of a bitter family dispute that saw the couple move out of the U.K. and relocate to California.
Since then, the two have carved out a new path: settling in the Montecito hills to raise their two children, son Prince Archie and daughter Princess Lilibet, and venturing into the entertainment space with projects such as Harry's bombshell memoir "Spare"and Meghan's lifestyle brand As Ever.
"I think when you really zoom out and think, 'My gosh, how many things have we gone through that have felt hard?' And then you still get through them," Meghan said at the "Cookie Queens" screening, according to People. "Or how many goals do you think you're not going to hit? And then you hit them, and you supersede them."
She added: "No matter what feels insurmountable, there's just always that sun shining above it."
Earlier this month, Meghan returned to the U.K. for the first time in nearly four years alongside Prince Harry and their children. The Sussex clan, which has had an estranged relationship with the royal family in recent years, met with King Charles III and Queen Camilla at Highgrove House, Charles and Camilla's private country residence in Gloucestershire, England.
